Referrals to Hospital
If the doctor thinks that you need to be referred to a consultant or hospital for further advice or treatment, the doctor will discuss the following with you:
- We will tell you why we think the referral is necessary.
- Patients can now choose which hospital they go to for further treatment and investigations. Further information is available by clicking on the link below. The Doctor will discuss with you the options available and a Secretary will request the appointment on your behalf.
- We will write to the hospital requesting an appointment for you.
- We will tell you how long you can expect to wait for details of your appointment from the hospital.
